Learn a language from the shows, songs and videos you already watch. It reads the subtitles, finds the words you don't know yet, and helps you learn them before you press play.
# the idea
Most people study a language by stopping. A word you don't know turns up, you pause, look it up, lose the thread, rewind. Half an hour of a show turns into an hour of homework, and after a week you stop watching.
- 1.Learn the hard words first
Before you watch, you get the words from that episode you probably don't know yet — ten minutes up front instead of forty pauses later.
- 2.Then just watch it
The words are already in your head, so the episode plays start to finish. You follow it because you prepared, not because you kept pausing.
- 3.Keep the lines that stuck
Tap a sentence you liked and it becomes a flashcard with the scene it came from. You review your own show, not someone else's word list.
Nothing here invents study material. It all comes out of something you were going to watch anyway — which is the only reason it keeps happening.
# learn from
Three kinds of thing go in. The same vocabulary, sentence mining and drills come out of all of them.
Search any title, or pull straight from your own Plex or Jellyfin.
Add a track and get time-synced lyrics you can actually study.
Any video, transcribed locally by Whisper into subtitles.
# try it
Have a subtitle file already? Upload it below and pull vocabulary straight into Anki. No account, nothing saved to a library.
Drop in an .srt file — no account needed to extract and export its vocabulary.

Subtitles
Point it at a video and get an SRT from local Whisper transcription — yt-dlp + whisper-cli, no cloud speech API.
Search by title and add what you're watching. Episodes come straight from your own Plex or Jellyfin when you have one.
Search a track and add it in one click — time-synced lyrics arrive as subtitle cues. From there a song behaves like anything else in your library: vocabulary, mining, comprehension and drills all work on it. Lyrics only, no audio player.
Already have an .srt? Upload it directly, no generation step needed.
Vocabulary & mining
Pull out the words worth learning at your level, via an LLM (OpenAI or Claude). Export as Anki TSV or push straight through AnkiConnect.
Mine specific lines out of what you're watching or reading, export in batches, and drill them spaced-repetition style.
Mark words you already know and get a comprehension % per subtitle, backed by real lemmatization rather than a naive word list.
Media servers
Browse your own library, stream with a subtitle overlay, and get a push notification the moment you start playing something, linking to a live transcript. Needs your own self-hosted server — nothing is bundled or hosted for you.
Extras
Follow a channel and get new uploads processed automatically instead of pasting links one at a time.
# honest bits
- -This is a one-person side project, not a company — expect rough edges and the occasional broken corner.
- -Whisper transcription runs one job at a time by default (it's CPU-heavy), so don't expect instant subtitles if a few people queue videos at once.
- -AI vocabulary extraction costs real money per call, so there's a daily usage cap per account and site-wide — you may hit it on a busy day.
- -Plex/Jellyfin streaming and live-play notifications only work against a server you already run yourself.
- -It uses a fair amount of AI-assisted (“vibe coded”) code. Reviewed and tested, but not something I'd trust with anything truly critical yet.
